- Hi,
-
- there is a problem with my new modem. After surfing the net for about a few minutes, my machine has
- no working connection with the internet provider and my xfers freeze. After freezing and about 30
- seconds of waiting (read: hoping the connection will be continued), the modem hangs up.
-
- My 'old' modem (a 14K4 Tornado internal) works perfectly, but my new modem (a 28K8 Dynalink
- external) is troubling me. There were no software/hardware changes. After reinstalling the old one
- I could work as if there was nothing wrong.
-
- Both modems were used at both my PC's, the 14K4 is working fine, the 28K8 stops...
- Even my mail agent (Eudora) was in trouble after using the 28K8. (Lost password on server, due to
- communication errors.)
-
- I use the default (factory) settings for both modems, with RTS-CTS flow control.
- Changing the logical speed from 115200 to 38400 or even lower in Trumpet winsock doesn't solve the
- problem. It seems to take a little bit longer then to have the lost connection/hangup.
-
- Both PC's have the 16550 chip in their I/O cards.
- Machine A is a PC586-120/PCI and machine B is a PC486DX2-66/VLB.
- On machine A I use MS-DOS/Windows with trumpet Winsock 2.0 and it worked fine.
- On machine B I use Linux 1.2.13 and this O.S. is working better ;-)
-
- What can be wrong or what I should do/test to solve this problem?
-
- Thanx anyway,
-
